Your conscience is a powerful force which destabilizes your mind, shutting it down and restarting it to force the body to behave in a way which is morally right or wrong. Now the question is, what is the degree of you conscience?. What is its level of guilt?

Hebrews 10:22

“Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”

The bigger your conscience, the more you have a like-mind as God. The way we act towards others speaks well of who we are and the level of wisdom which has been imbedded in our hearts. Most times when people do not act accordingly, it is as a result of the weight of their conscience. The more he lacks moral sense, the more he lacks the sense of good and evil. The principles or right and wrong are instilled by God, nurtured by parents, assisted by immediate surroundings and strengthened by experience.

Hebrews 13:18

“Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honourably in all things.”

When people describe a man as one without sense or one without guilty conscience, it simple means his lacks wisdom. This equals to an impenetrable conscience, since it will act as a guide to ones’s behaviour. Lack of conscience is as though a dark garment over ones entire life and God does not live where there is darkness. 

1 Timothy 4:1-2

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared,”

When we know that something is utterly wrong, yet we do it. Why is this so?. It is so because we can never be what we are not. Hence, if you were not created with a high level of conscience, doing evil will not mean a thing to you. A man fornicates with his brother’s wife or a father sexually assaults his daughter and he see’s nothing absolutely wrong with it. It is not that he is outright evil, he just does not have the consciousness of the wickedness that is within and the harm after his actions. After such a deed is done, the person who have committed an atrocity will still sleep well at night. However, if it were to be someone who’s conscience is strong, he will never have peace of mind.

Romans 13:5

“Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath
but also for the sake of conscience.”

PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ,
Make we aware of the inner sense of what is right or wrong in my conduct or motives and impel me towards a right action. Maintain the part of me that judges how moral my own actions are and make me feel guilty about the bad things that I have done or things I feel responsible for. Lord, give me the ability to have a guilty feeling about something bad I have done and teach me how to apologize for my previous wrongs.
