“A man wearing a jeans and t-shirt will visit the president if he carries a belief beyond his appearance. Whereas, a woman without confidence will stumble where there is no stone.” - Jecinta Powell.
Self-confidence means believing in yourself. You will know who you are and what you stand for. Your actions will be in line with your principles, giving you a greater sense of purpose. Allowing your best-self shine through, it will help you to experience and understand another person's thoughts, feelings, and conditions, rather than solely from your own perspective. Hence, enables more compassionate manner. Self-confidence detaches a person from negative thoughts, which permits him or her to take action in line with their values and the skills to show up, stand up, and speak up. Confidence is important to success, as it leads to a happy and fulfilling life. A sure link to almost every element involved in attaining your full potential.
However, our inner-critic of self-doubt can make us into what we are not. It can dampen our dreams and enthusiasm, as it gives room for weak goals, setting the bar too low. The moment an individual searches for reasons why he will ultimately not succeed, negative self-talk begins to weather self-confidence. Therefore, to succeed, a person would need high morale to face and overcome anxiety.
If your struggle with low self-confidence, there is a possibility that your inner-critic, known as the villain, has overpowered your mind. Hence, the brain has become a product of overactive imaginations and inexact descriptions. I can clearly state with factuality that nobody talks down on you as much as your “inner-critic of self-doubt”- the criminal who steals the feeling of trust in one’s abilities, qualities and judgements, and in turn feeds intolerance and pessimism- a tendency to see or believe the worse.
Therefore, do not behave in accordance with your own self-image, especially when is it distrusting or when there is scepticism. One must directly confront his or her inner-critic whenever it starts to speak. Whenever those unfavourable opinions begin, you must question your thoughts with supporting evidence of previous and recent contradicting behaviours, attainments or situations. There must be evidence that does not support or allow the inner critic’s voice approve of you. A person suffering from low self-esteem must search hard for these proof.
It starts with how you build or destroy your self-esteem. Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward for you. Perceived faults, depression and anxiety will only redraw you from the “world of reward”. Set the bar high, aim high. Hence, fill up your mind with confidence and the cycle of over-thinking will depart from you, and face your fears head on and see your self-confidence soar.
Wire the brain to seek the right answers to questions, without over analysing the question. Why would you think you are a failure? Even if there are evidence of past non-successes, that does not mean you will fail this time around. There are many factors that could have influenced previous lack of success. For this reason, let your inner-critic of self-doubt know why you will win this time around. Hence, instead of mulling over anxiety, think of the various possibilities. The more confident you become, the more you will be able to serene the voice inside you that says, “I can’t do it.”
A person of frail confidence can also have limitless confidence. Change how you see yourself. Visualise an image of yourself that you are proud of, it is a technique to bring things to life. Say how you want to see yourself despite the obvious, as it is often inaccurate. Affirmations are powerful tools to deliberately install desired believes about yourself. Take small steps that leave a lasting sense of accomplishment, get out of your own head and genuinely engage with others, handle crippling challenges since failure and mistakes leads to growth, worry less about the sort of impression you are making and know that your weaknesses does not change your self-worth. Therefore, avenge the death of your self-confidence. Be an avenger, fight your inner-critic when it bombards you with ideas or beliefs that threaten your self-confident.
